I love the show too, for so much the same reasons you write about - time for a rewatch myself! - but also because I’m in Odessa, Texas (the inspiration/model for Dillon, TX!) this week, teaching and playing with my string quartet. Our second violinist, who set up this residency for us to come twice a year out to West Texas, grew up here and went to Permian High School, home of...THE PANTHERS (the school and team from Friday Night Lights, and their actual name!!). Such a majorly perfect FNL fangirl quartet tour.
